Each version has its own unique character. Thanks to changes to the character roster, balance, and speed, the game feels completely different. Newer versions are usually a better choice, unless you’re a veteran of the golden era of older consoles.

All twelve games include a competitive mode, and four of them (SFII: Hyper Fighting, SFII Turbo, Alpha 3, and SFIII: 3rd Strike) feature an advanced training mode not found in the arcade versions.
