At the start of your adventure, you’ll find a wealth of character customization options. The selection of skin tones, glasses, hairstyles, and headwear was far greater than I expected. While this may seem simple, it’s a rare feature in video games, and it significantly enhances the gameplay experience. You can even change all of these options at any time.

After posing in front of the mirror and impressing everyone with your ever-changing appearance, you’re sent to Lux Solis for your first day as a martial arts researcher—much better than sending a child with a fire-breathing lizard. When it’s time to meet your first combat partner, you’ll take a personality test to find out which of three options suits you best. You can ignore it entirely, or receive answers that indicate more than one fits, but I love these little details that further immerse you in the story.

Create Your Own Rules

This genre has a large community of players who enjoy creating their own challenges, and Coromon has integrated this feature into its core gameplay. The game offers a wide range of difficulty levels. You can choose the standard difficulty level or levels inspired by popular challenges like the Nozlock Challenge and Random Number Generator (RNG). Still not convinced?

Explore the game’s settings menu, and you’ll find numerous ways to customize it to your liking. In addition to standard accessibility options, such as a colorblind mode, there are many ways to customize the gameplay, including separate options for selecting Coromon before battling wild Pokémon or Trainers, as well as RNG settings to make battles more predictable.
