Game description

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance NSP is a 2D Action-Platformer game, similar to earlier games in the series. However, it adds a few modern touches. The game feels less linear, and the levels are much larger. You can open a map to see where to go next.

Let’s start with the story. The main character, Joe Musashi, is on a mission for revenge. A group called Any Corporation destroyed his village and turned his students to stone. Now, he wants to take them down along with their leader, Lord Ruse, who aims to control the world.

Some areas stay locked at first. You need to find switches or levers to move forward. Other paths require special abilities, which you unlock later. You can also revisit earlier areas to discover hidden secrets. In combat, you mainly use your katana to defeat enemies. You can also throw kunai for ranged attacks. Kunai are limited, but you can collect more as you progress.

A challenging and satisfying fight

It feels really satisfying to take down 3–4 enemies at once in a single smooth attack. That kind of combat makes the game fun to play. Shinobi is also known for its difficulty. The levels don’t feel too hard, but boss fights can take a few tries.

If you enjoy a challenge, you can stick to basic abilities. But the game gives you plenty of moves to experiment with. This makes the combat feel fast, varied, and exciting. One small issue is that things can get a bit overwhelming. Sometimes, too much happens on screen at once, which can be hard to keep track of.
