Story

The game includes a story and a chronicle mode, featuring over 5,200 players from across the series and over 150 teams, allowing players to create their own teams and unlock special moves. It also supports online tournaments, enabling players to compete against each other worldwide. Its cel-shaded art style perfectly matches the anime aesthetic, and the pre-release deluxe edition garnered over 20,000 players on Steam, receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Gameplay

Despite its unusual mechanics, Victory Road Switch NSP offers a surprisingly enjoyable gameplay experience. Scoring goals remains the objective, but success is directly dependent on statistics rather than shots. Each player has offensive and defensive stats, and when you shoot, your offensive stat is compared to the goalkeeper’s defensive stat. If the defense is stronger, the shot is blocked, but the goalkeeper’s defensive stat decreases. By repeatedly attacking and reducing the defensive stat to zero, you can eventually score.

While the system seems simple, there are many ways to improve your attacks. Players can focus on passing, combining passes, and activating powerful special moves instead of shooting. Each character has unique abilities and preferred positions on the field. This makes coordination among team members vital. Smart decision-making and tactical awareness play a crucial role and reward players who think ahead rather than relying solely on brute force.
