It offers a unique and immersive off-road driving experience. Instead of avoiding mud, snow, and rough terrain, the game makes these obstacles the main challenge. Over the years, the series has evolved with expansions like American Wilds and the success of SnowRunner, adding mod support and extra features. Now, this original version has arrived on home consoles, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

In terms of gameplay, Expeditions A MudRunner Game focuses on realistic 3D driving with a strong emphasis on terrain physics and vehicle handling. You drive trucks through rocky roads, deep mud, and flooded areas while completing missions and delivering cargo. However, not all features are available at launch. Some minor elements, like the truck horn, have returned, but the lack of a co-op mode is disappointing, especially considering players will have to wait until summer 2024 for that update.
