GIGASWORD NSP is an action platformer with sword based mechanics, puzzle solving, exploration, and level based progression. The game story revolves around a brave warrior named First who acquires a magical artifact with extraordinary powers called Gnosis. This artifact grants its owner immense wealth and the ability to obtain anything they desire, but it also harbors a dangerous, dark side. It corrupts the racial integrity of the planet, transforming humans into terrifying monsters. A cruel king has already used Gnosis and destroyed nearly everything. Now, in the midst of this latest invasion, a young man named Ezra, who has risen from a vagabond life to the care of an owl-like Nocturne named Omari, has a chance to stop it. Pokopia NSP

Without revealing too many story details, the game is full of drama and loss, frequently full of surprises, with a narrative that jumps back and forth, and unexpectedly takes place in Nestrium, a massive tower built in ancient times where the power of the Gnostics is unleashed. All Ezra possesses is the sword that once belonged to Omari and bears the game’s name. This sword, enormous for a human, adds a new dimension to the cliché image of traditional Japanese RPG characters wielding giant swords.

Thankfully, one thing missing from Nintendo Entertainment System-era Gigasword games is excessive difficulty; my reflexes aren’t what they used to be. The combat system is satisfyingly simple and perfectly fair. Sure, you’ll encounter some screen-filling bosses, but thanks to the excellent difficulty curve and extremely generous save points – a feature definitely absent from NES games! Windbound NSP
